Brother ink absorber full – How to solve?

Door , woensdag 12 juni 2024 om 18:01 - Algemeen | English

A common problem with Brother printers is a full ink absorber. This absorber consists of a small sponge pad that catches excess or spilled ink during the printing and cleaning process, preventing the ink from leaking into the printer. When the Brother ink absorber is full, excess ink stains may appear on your printouts. Replacing the ink absorber must be carried out by a Brother installer, but this can cost almost as much as buying a new printer. You can find the ink absorber on the bottom of your printer.

Fortunately, a full ink absorber does not have to mean the end of your printer’s lifespan. In this blog we explain how you can reset the ink absorber counter so you can print again. Please note: This is only a temporary solution, and there is a chance that ink may actually leak onto your prints as you continue printing. However, it will save a lot of time (and possibly money if you’re out of warranty) and easily extend the life of your printer.

Why does my Brother printer think the absorber is full when it is not?

The ink absorbent pad becomes saturated with ink due to frequent use, usually after a number of years. This makes the Brother printer think that the ink absorber is full. Since it is difficult for the software to determine exactly how saturated the sponge is, it calculates roughly based on the number of cleanings the Brother printer has performed. Often the error message overestimates the degree of saturation and indicates that the sponge is full when it is not. You can easily turn this counter back to zero, so that you can continue printing.

How do you resolve the ink absorber error message?

Before you start the next steps, first check whether your Brother printer is still under warranty. If so, please contact Brother Support to have your printer repaired. If your printer is out of warranty, or the absorber sponge replacement is not covered, follow one of the following solutions:
